we're face to face
the time you'll wait
never let go of me
to show up late
to stay awake
a day to just be free
more nights to pass
plus ones I've had
things I've yet to know
feelings that last
a twisted past
I begged you not to go
a fuse that's lit
the choice I picked
to start with something true
the pain I feel
the guard I've built
my lonliness subdued
what's worth the fight
to give your life
over some dirty greed
to say you might
or one day try
is not what this world needs
