There’s a girl you never notice

In the middle of every class

She’s a very quiet person

Who waits for time to pass

She doesn’t speak much

She doesn’t like attention

She’s the girl in the dark

What a weird thing to mention

She has some friends

But they barely care

They tell her their issues

And get in her hair

She fakes her interest

When they talk of their fears

She doesn’t really listen

Their words pass by her ears

There are people who care

Like a girl young and kind

She used to hurt every day

But got better with time

The girl in the dark

Always asked her for advice

She said it’s all she needed

But a hug would be nice

Another is a boy

Who hid things with a cover

He hid his love for her

But this girl loved another

Each night she waits

For the time she can sleep

She’ll escape the day

And hide in the deep

The deep is the dark

A place she knows best

She comes here to think

To rid the weight off her chest

Sleep is usually hard to find

So instead she lies awake

And thinks everything over

Mainly her every mistake

She thinks about a girl

Who never leaves her thoughts

It’s really quite pointless

But her mind is in knots

She eats each day

This is very true

Not always enough

But her care is far from view

This is the girl you don’t notice

Crying in the night

She hurts and breaks each day

And hides it with a smile so bright

You’ll never notice this girl

Or the pain from her fight

But you probably don’t care

She’s a girl in the dark amidst the light
