It is dawn in Beatie, Kansas
It is nine in New York
And it is still dark in San Francisco
But it is dawn in Beatie, Kansas

It is summer in Beatie, Kansas,
And there is a mother in Beatie, Kansas.
Her husband and her son,
All in Beatie, Kansas.

The first bird chirps in the depression-ravaged town of Beatie, Kansas.
Wouldn’t it be nice to just be a little bird in Beatie, Kansas?
No worries of surviving or feeding the hungry mouths of your children,
But then again, you would still be in Beatie, Kansas,
And what is there to live for in Beatie, Kansas.

But maybe, just maybe there is something to live for in Beatie, Kansas.
They all have each other to live for in Beatie, Kansas.
