'“One must always be careful of books...and what is inside them, for words have the power to change us.” Cassandra Clare

An open wound

on my thumb

from the

roses in the yard

Mother would

be mad,

the sight

of blood

frightens her

But how

was I to know

that I would

be pricked?

I just wanted

to gift one

to her.

This poem is inspired by Williams Carlos Williams' simplistic and imaginistic style of writing.
