South for the Winter
I watched them by the pond in Spring.
They would hop and play and swim.
Then they took planes down to Texas in November,
grumbling about what was wrong with the weather.
Others took cars, and honked the whole way,
loaded with baggage, they wobbled to their temporary stay.
They were hoping for shelter, and warmth on the surface.
But soon enough, their hearts began to long for home,
and they headed back in perfect form.
Back to the pond where i watched them in Spring.
