Glass
Barriers between what you are, and what you could be.
You have to do this before you can have that,
have to do everything perfect, or perfectly wrong.
You can see it, but you just can’t touch it.
The condensation drips down, and you can barely see through the fog.
Wipe it away, only to realize you still can’t see it completely.
You’re getting closer and closer to that sweet golden dream.
You might be protected from the rain.
Glass can always break. Shatter,
onto that pretty little protected face.
Slide it open, climb through. You can discover,
that clear pane of uncertainty
was the only thing holding you back, anyway.
Never let it die-- don’t stop the fight for your dreams.
They may seem sturdy and
the thought of breaking through sounds painful.
Shards can cut you; but they will never cut your heart to pieces.
They can never kill your passion
to continue your journey towards what you want so badly.
If you can find the strength within yourself,
break through. Once you do, you’ll realize:
not all that much was stopping you, anyway.
