The System

bass slams out a thumping beat
drums smash out the rhythm
as everyone tries to dance along
a guy drinks some mountain dew for courage
and makes his way to the girl
in no time at all there holding
each other close

sweating bodies everywhere
energy is off the charts
this is where I live
The System
this is what I am
I turn it up till my ears bleed
and I don’t ever want to stop

he holds his girl close
and doesn’t want to let go
good thing she doesn’t want to either
this is his best day ever
here comes the slow song
they’re the best couple out there

But then the party’s over
everyone empties the room
empty bottles are everywhere
a lonely janitor sweeps it all up
but I’m not disappointed,
they’ll all be here tomorrow

the guy wakes up the next day
he feels like crap
decides he’ll call his girl
and what the heck,
maybe he’ll go to the party today.

They go to the party
the bass is even loader
the drums are faster
and more ears bleed
this is my life
this is The System

I love this poem and it is kinda dark, but still very, very good. I think you sell your self short, way too short. Your a great writer and i'ver checked some of your other stuff, still good.
