I jumped off his scaly back
And as he prepared to attack
My dragon just snorted
His face contorted
Eyes drawn on the man he would whack

Usually the roles were reversed
But it seemed that this knight was cursed
For my dragon was the hero
His opponent in fear of
What my brave green friend would do first

This castle was my home
And if this man thought he was free to roam
He’d become like diced cheese
By my dragon with ease
Because with him, I was never alone

No matter what the future entails
His bravery never fails
He’ll always be there
And when I’m scared
I’ll have my knight in shining scales

This was inspired from a project I did in my English class. I love poetry and this particular pattern was fun. I thought the twist I added made it more unique than the regular old knight come to save the damsel in distress. Besides, who doesn't want a pet dragon?

The goal is not about living forever, the goal is about creating something that can.
