Constellations in Her Eyes
There used to be constellations in her eyes.
She always slept with books in her arms, instead of stuffed animals.
But this girl plays the pain game. She hurts like the earth hurts,
she sings like the wind sings,
she sees like the water sees,
and burns like the fire burns.
Now her eyes are empty and she's looking for a home and for something more.
Her own skin is a new restriction and she doesn't feel whole.
She's just light, just energy.
Her entire body is a cage.
The only thing she has is her old and tired soul but her spirit is young and eager.
She's waiting for her words to spring to life and her thoughts to take breath.
Bring life into her words.
