The First Game
The first game of the season -
Getting prepared before the game begins.
Butterflies in my stomach.
Getting dressed and then the long wait,
As nervous as can be.
Putting the jersey on is my symbol for my team.
A silence comes over all of us.
“Show time,” as my coach says,
As the other team enters the ice.
The crowd goes crazy. We are the underdog.
We are intimidated from their size.
We overcome our fears.
As the last buzzer sounds, we win.
