Happy Birthday
A poem for you dad
First I'd like to say
You've made me sad
The pain you cause rips through
My beaten heart
Marking every day
Like a drop of rain
On my picnic
A fly
In my soup
You wilted my smile
Like a bloom grown to droop
The glassy eyes
You've never seen
An exchange of woven words, I see it clearly
What's real and what's a hoax
Detected by the one you should have held dearly
Heaving breaths, falling crystals, sighs between
Gritted teeth.
I won't let this
happen again
You won't get a hold of me
I can't let you win
A poem for you, dad
the best I could think of
Yes, happy birthday
with all due respect
Though how much you deserve,
Unknown
