Crashing Down on Us
I wanna ride this wave with you.
I wanna go with this calm tranquil flow
Of ocean pushing us along gently
Taking us away to a place where
Everything is the closest thing to sparkling clean water
That exposes anything beneath it
Showing its true colors, beauty.
And we'll sit there staring into it,
Our reflections transparent,
Our eyes glazing over in a trans of admiration.
I wanna ride this wave with you.
But the fear that I'll wipe out
And end up back on the shore, grounded,
With nothing, but sand and seaweed in my bikini
Is making me resist the hand you're holding out for me to take.
Scared that there won't be a floatie
for me to grab if I fall off.
I'm riding this wave with you.
Knowing that if the wave comes crashing down
on us you'll float to shore, too.
We'll sit next to each other, soggy,
In a mess of sand and seaweed in our trunks and bikini.
And we'll smile and think, "Oh yeah, this is why."
I'm riding this wave with you.
And I'm starting not to mind
The calm, crashin waves of reflecting ocean
Wiping us out to shore in a mess of emotion.
Sweetheart, I'm riding this wave with you...
