I peer out my window
the fog shadowing the glass pane
my thoughts are somewhere else
somewhere distant
somewhere new
a simple song plays in my mind
a merry-go-round machine plays the tune,
matching every note with a pleasant feeling that doesn’t quite belong
the grey clouds roll away to reveal a starless night
why did the stars run away?

I love the ending! Have you ever read "Something Wicked This Way Comes" by Ray Bradbury? Your poem and merry-go-round reminded me of it.

I'd love if you took a look at my poetry. Thanks! :D
