Day and night combine
As days, weeks, months, years go by
Lives are lost in the fast-moving current of time
Memories fade as people age
Never are life lessons written in history
Experiences in the black ink of diaries
They smudge as it is packed into storage
Others never learning from their mistakes
Having the records skip back every beat
The human race can't pass it by
When lessons are not learned
In the passing of time
