I am the One


I am all those who have suffered for the rest,
I hear the cries of those still suffering,
I see the pain of them drift away with their last living breath,
I cry for those who’re not gone today,
I am the one who lives today.

I am the pain that suffers on,
I want the time to no longer go on.
I need the drive to push them on,
I hope that they may someday play,
I fear that some, in fields, shall lay,
I am the blood for sorrow pay.

I am all those who have gone on,
I feel the pain shall lift away,
I try to think they’ve gone astray,
I wonder if they’ll make it today
I dream that they have run away,
I am the one who lives today
