I think of all the times that people said what a special little girl
And my heart just crumbles every time I think of saying goodbye to that world
Goodbye to Barbies, and climbing trees, building forts and my skinned up knees
But I have to go, I can’t look back now, I just need some room please
Beause I’m trapped in the middle, trapped in the middle of these two worlds.

Well there’s no more denying it, this change is coming fast
It’s hard to look to the future, when my hearts still in the past.
Playing house, or house for real, which one do I choose?
Either way I turn, a part of me I’m bound to lose.
Because I’m trapped in the middle, trapped in the middle of these two worlds.

I got the little girl; she’s pulling me, begging me not to go
I got the other girl she’s pushing me telling me I need to grow
Because I’m trapped in the middle, trapped in the middle of these two worlds.

Now I know it’s time to shed my skin I’ve got to keep up with this pace
I need to say hello to all the things in this brand new place
Hello to driving and credit cards, puppy love and broken hearts
But I brought the little girl with me she’ll always be a part

No longer trapped in the middle, trapped in the middle of these two worlds
Now the little girl, well, she’s ok cause I brought her a long
And the other girl well she welcomed her, together were all strong
No longer trapped in the middle, trapped in the middle of, trapped in the middle of these two worlds

I was told that I couldn't be part of the Children's department at Ford Models because I was too tall and I couldn't be part of the Adults department because I wasn't tall enough. So I felt like I was just "Trapped in the Middle" I decided that I didn't have to let everything in my childhood go to start experiencing some of the things in the adult world.

This is a very pretty, very true poem. I think a lot of teens would feel this way
