I saw a man with a guitar in hand and thought, "We're not so different."

I have my pen; you have your guitar.
We share an idea- creation.

I have my paper; you have your strings.
We share a motive- passion.

I have my words; you have your notes.
We share a vision- beauty.

I have my novel; you have your album.
We share a dream- success.

I stepped outside to walk Duke, my sister's puppy, when I happened upon a mysterious man bearing a battered guitar. By the time I re-entered my apartment, this poem had fully formed and taken up residence in my mind. I like it because it expresses the idea that all art it just that- expression.
