Fate
Across the room our eyes looked up and met.
We move to fill the space that separates.
In silence we agree, forget regret,
Ignoring all the warnings giv’n by fate.
The faces that surround us disappear.
We move in sync and dance from dusk to dawn.
The music of our heartbeat’s all we hear,
Both savoring the time before it’s gone.
We knew inside that it would never last.
This moment soon will fade into the past.
It forces hearts back to reality,
When dawn announces what is meant to be.
The time has come for you and I to part,
With me you’ll stay, a handprint on my heart.
