The Yellow Star
When I am walking down the street, I see yellow.
I see yellow everywhere.
Not just on the shirts of my friends.
But on the bakery door.
When I look into her eyes I see yellow.
Yellow in the shape of a six pointed star.
I see the Star of David deep in her eyes.
Deep in the brown eyed, brown haired little girl I see yellow.
When I look in the mirror I see yellow.
I see yellow on me.
I see yellow in my brown eyes.
Deep in my brown eyes I see yellow.
Yellow in the shape of a six pointed star.
Deep in my eyes I see the Star of David.
When I look around the one roomed attic I see yellow.
Yellow on my mother, my father, my brothers, my sister.
Deep in their eyes I see yellow in the shape of the six pointed star.
Deep in their eyes I see the Star of David.
On the train I see yellow.
Yellow in all one hundred and twenty one of them.
Yellow in the shape of the six pointed star.
Deep in their eyes I see the Star of David.
I see yellow for the last time.
I see yellow as we walked in to the big cement room.
Yellow in a pile on the floor.
ALL I SEE IS YELLOW.
YELLOW IN THE SHAPE OF A SIX POINTED STAR.
YELLOW AS THE STAR OF DAVID.
YELLOW ON MY SHIRT.
