She’s always there
She always cares
He’s like a forgotten teddy bear

He’s never here
I don’t know him
I could get to know him if I went out on a limb
But no I will not, I will not know him

He left us without looking back!
He’s gone, he left, and that’s just a fact

But I’ve learned not to care...
Not to care for the forgotten teddy bear
I have my mom and that’s fine with me!
She makes me laugh, smile, and be free

I used to care for the unknown man I call Father
I wasted all of my birthday wishes on him
But now I’m hopeless so I don't even bother

The author's comments:
I wrote this poem because my dad left my mom and I before I was even 1 year old. All of my life I have yearned for his presence. But about a year ago I stopped. I learned that he was never gonig to be in my life. Not there to chase guys away. Not there to walk me down the aisle when I get married. He's not going to be here at all. So I've got to stop trying.
