The Blue Sweatshirt
You’re coming in crystal clear.
I told you while tears formed in my eyes.
You gave my shoulder a quick squeeze
And wrapped your arms around my waist.
I shrugged, pushed you away, away from me
And begged you to just please leave.
You wouldn’t take back your blue sweatshirt,
Which I wore almost every day for two years.
My scent was now embedded in the fabric,
And yours was gone without a trace.
I held the sweatshirt tight and gave you one last hug
So our scents would intertwine once again
And I could remember the scent of love.
