Lemonade is not for winter days
I was the lemonade on a summer day,
A short-lived temptation you could not refuse.
You would hold my hand and call me baby,
And I would buy into this like a naïve girl would.
But when the cold settled in, you went away.
Your sugary addiction subsided.
I was thrown away like a used plastic cup
Because the heat, you said, was gone.
You turned to the hot cocoa on that cold day,
But I know she doesn’t make you feel like I did-
My love started a fire in your heart, your soul.
It kept you warmer than she ever will.
