He Said
Don't stand too close to the flame, he said
And don't trip along the sea.
By listening to God's advice,
You'll stand apart from me.
The words of wisdom spoken,
Are said, act easily to guide,
Follow these cliches and you'll always find your pride.
The easy route is classic,
The rough has a bad name,
No matter which way you take,
The end will still remain.
Just because he tells me so,
I can not at all be that way.
I wont give up my beliefs,
Not even only for today.
I may be alone in this,
Or off inside somewhere,
It may be something you learn from me,
Or clearly do not care.
I do stand by myself,
And I just wanted him to know,
I couldn't feel the heat,
And the ocean did not grow.
