Expectations
When was the last time all your beliefs went to shame
From the one person who you thought felt the same.
And how searing was the pain when you finally felt
That you had always been talking to someone else
How disappointed were you when it was all lies
Did you scream, did you laugh, did you just start to cry
How long did you tell yourself you were the cause
Blaming all your differences, arguments and flaws.
How was it knowing all your expectations had put you here
Leading up to what you had most of all feared
Maybe what you expected was just to great
For the person you thought was your soul mate.
