Reeling from the harsh words and the bitter cries.
Dazed and confused,
Not understanding what had happened,
Not knowing where to turn to next.
Salt water coursing down my cheeks, and
Blurred vision causing me to slow and sit.
Masochistic thoughts flood my psyche, and result in
Blood seeping from the newly shredded skin.
I hold the jagged rock,
Poised again. Instead, I
Throw my body into the barren river,
Fighting to breath
Fighting to live
Falling.
Into the safety of your arms.
Battered and bruised, I
Show scars from another life
I struggle to hold on
And yet,
I know we can make it.
Molding one body to another,
Fitting them together like a puzzle,
Body and soul.
Love mixed with fire that is
Showering us with sparks,
Scalding our gaping wounds
Never to be healed.
Never to be closed.
Shivering inside the arms that hold me tight
Where you swore to protect me.
