Synchronized
step step step-
It’s a march to make effect.
Black sky holds a fate;
the horses look away.

A fire burns
a small to loathing hatred into their hearts.
Two different causes-
defense protecting a home, a family, a life
offense protecting a right, a hope, a dream
guarding it with the reins of disaster.

It burns a deep red-
the fires they sit by reminiscing
better days.
Victims- victims.
We hear the clatter.

But a fire that burns this deep
and the sight of a world losing its
youth to the floods of escalated hatred
shows there are no perpetrators-
just victims.

"Here's the real truth. There are eight million people in this city. And those teeming masses exist for the sole purpose of lifting the few exceptional people onto their shoulders. You, me? We're exceptional."

OH MY GOSH, so I commented on your other poem as well and wanted to look at the rest of them. You have an amazing gift here that is clearly going unrecognized on this site. This is the kind of writing I want to see in the magazine and on the front page, not the just okay stuff that is usually there! Amazing job again. :)
