Relays

With our teammates we swim for the gold,
An all out swim whether it's hot or cold.
Together we four race as a team,
To achieve our goal, a record, our dream.
One as the anchor, another as the lead,
It doesn't matter which ever position- just that we finish with speed!
We cheer for our mates right after we swim,
We have to do good, 'cause there's only prelims.
After a few hours of -*thank god!*- peaceful rest,
We're all ready to swim fast and be at our best!
We concentrate in and listen to the beep,
And when we do hear it, we take a great leap!
The first person starts with a big huge margin,
Away from the rest, as if they're swimming with a fin!
The second continues to race ahead,
Even though their limbs are all dead.
The third leg jumps in with power and determination,
Shooting forward without a hint of hesitation!
Both medley and freestyle relays are a whole lotsa fun,
Yet they become even better -when we discovered we won!

This is one poem from a series me and my friend wrote about the fantastic sport of swimming.
