Too Proud to Let It Show
You’re not the kind of person to fall down a lot
But when you feel like there’s nothin’ you can do, you stop,
And think-try to hold the tears back from your eyes,
And stand up straight; tilt your head up, high

 You just shrug it off,
 And stand up tall,
‘Cause you know you can’t let them see you fall,
And if you fight the tears,
And keep your head held high,
Then no one else can see the hurt you feel tonight
‘Cause you’re too proud to let it show.

You’re not the kind of person to just cry a lot,
But when you feel like everything’s against you, you can’t help but stop,
And close your eyes and try to put a smile on and act like every-thing’s all right,
‘Cause you can’t let anyone know the hurt you’re feelin’ to-night

And you try to shrug it off,
 And stand up tall,
‘Cause you know you can’t let them see you fall,
And if you fight the tears,
And keep your head held high,
They might not see the hurt you felt tonight
‘Cause you’re too proud to let your feelings show.
