Something Scary
The wind waltzing through the forest of pines
The wood a ballroom, the breeze a dancer
Shivers sent down the children's fragile spines
Their fear spreads like the deadliest cancer
The miniscule group hiding in their tent
Afraid of what might come tapping tonight
The patience of the forest has been spent
And now nightfall extinguishes all light
Trees sway back and forth to an owl's clear beat
A funnel is formed from leaves, twigs, and soil
The spiral taunts a house composed of sheets
But then the tornado starts to recoil
Those in the tent run from the dark to home
As they do the stars ahead shine like chrome
