Indiscriminate Breath
Spring where the weather isn't hot
but has this refreshing breeze where
every time you walk you can feel
the air breezing into your body.
freezing within your lungs
oppressing deeply - - spirit in a body.
Almost as deep as the staples in
my face, plastering a smile
I breathe out the words I seem
to only say since that night,
"I'm okay"- -
You think it's okay since she
was displaying her body like
a highway billboard showing
a car safety ad. Their cliché
no texting and driving, yet
people love the adrenalne
dashing through their veins,
and linger danger between
their hands.
Surely you wouldn't expect it
to come from him. The
Golden boy, the one who
wears his heart on his sleeve.
But that night he was wearing
The devil's horns.
Her thoughts circle as she bore
her eyes on the pink wand
as the stripe materialize.
Her heart climbs up her throat,
as she glare
Positive. Result. Period.
stomach begins to flatten as
the thought to her solution
being to resurface.
