In modern times, a pretty face tends to get more media attention than perhaps a natural disaster, public tragedy, or devastating situation in a underdeveloped country. We pay more attention to the lifestyles of the rich and famous and place topics such as war and famine on the back burner. We are so distracted by our own pursuit of the "American Dream" that we overlook the bigger picture.
