In 2002 1,400 children were killed as a result of child abuse and neglect.(Child Abuse in the Untied States is a serious problem). Many parents abuse their children, which causes a lot of problems for the child. They can get physically hurt or even emotionally scarred for life. A lot of children are injured from child abuse of neglect. We have to do something about this before it gets even more out of hand. If we can stop this we will save a lot of children before they get abused or neglected.

Child abuse is extremely dangerous and affects a lot of children. In North Carolina and Colorado they held studies which showed that 50 or 60 percent of all deaths from child abuse aren’t even recorded.( Child Abuse in the Untied States is a Serious Problem). This shows that there are even more cases of child abuse and neglect than people actually think. Women are most often responsible for the child’s care. This is why mothers are usually blamed for children’s deaths due to child abuse and child neglect.
Parents who are alcoholics or drug abusers are more likely to abuse their children. Parents are three times as likely to abuse their kids if they are alcohol or drug abusers. They are 4 times as likely to neglect there child if they abuse drugs or alcohol. There are 28 million kids that have parents who abuse drugs or alcohol. Therefore there are a lot of children who are at a high risk of getting abused or neglected.
Some people think that the amount of child abuse cases are over reported and that child abuse is not as bad as people think. 15 out of every 1000 child abuse incidents didn’t necessarily happen. That means that fewer children are abused than everyone thinks. The media leads to over reporting of child abuse. Keep in mind that there are also some child abuse cases that aren’t reported so it cancels out the amount of cases that didn’t really happen. Even if one child is abuse it is still bad. We can’t afford to have any child injured or harmed from child abuse or neglect.
Child abuse is very dangerous and should be stopped. There should be stronger consequences for parents or relatives who abuse their children. If they neglect or abuse their child in anyway the parents should have heavier consequences. We can not risk have children abused numerous times or even one time. People in the United States should feel safe and should always be protected.
