“Offer anyone who’s ever had hard times in their lives/ so they sit and they cry at night wishing they died/ till they throw on a rap record and they sit and the vibe”/ -Eminem (Sing For The Moment). Why do people think rap is such a negative genre of music to listen to? Some people think rap is the most controversial music there is. I think rap can be a positive escape for people with a hard life.
By reading some of the reviews on rap music it is easy to notice most think it’s a negative and racist genre of music. Some think it’s a genre filled with explicit content and sexism, but what most fail to realize is behind all the explicit content and swears most rap music has a story behind the song. Critics just look at swears and the negative way rappers express themselves and automatically come to the conclusion that rap is the worst thing to listen to.
People look down on this genre because they don’t take the time to look beyond the music, or to look beyond the inappropriate content to see the message in the song. Rap isn’t always negative; rap can also contain personal experiences about the rappers life and everything they have been through. Rap contains a lot of emotion and feeling in every song made.

Rap can be a very positive thing to listen to. There are happy songs that can brighten up someone’s day and with all the feeling within the music. If someone relates to what the rapper is saying it can make a depressed kid or person see he/she is not the only one with the troubles they are facing, and there is a way to deal with his/her problems. Rap isn’t just entertainment it can be used as a therapy for some people, and can state opinions the rapper has and how they view life. Rapper’s don’t make music to cause controversy; some think that with their music they can change the world.” 'I'm not saying I'm gonna change the world, but I guarantee that I will spark the brain that will change the world.” - Tupac

For some, rap music is an escape and a positive genre of music. For others it’s a negative form of music filled
with controversial topics and sexism. We are all entitled to our own opinions, so if you don’t like the music I have a simple solution for you. DON’T LISTEN TO IT.

This is very amazing and i should have my friends read this when they begin hating on me for loving rap, (specially Eminem), but I would just like to correct the lyrics (and I do know that you made them clean). they say something like this, "Or for anyone who's every been through hard times in their lives/ till they sit and they cry at night, wishin' they'd die/ till they throw on a rap record, and they sit and they vibe/..." Just my opinion though.

I really like this....and I don't like rap music! HOWEVER!! I'm not prejudice to it. I like the lyrics, the beat just isn't my thing. Rap is poetry put to a beat, when you think about it.
