The governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin, is a proud hockey mom. In the article “Which is the more important voting demographic,” by Jacob Leibenluft.
“How many other hockey moms are out there?” Nationwide there are about 347,061 registered players in USA Hockey. This can’t be an accurate amount of hockey moms, because parents may have more than one player registered. Jacob Leibenluft finds out that; “Hockey moms are outnumbered by soccer moms nationwide for sure.”
The price of playing hockey versus soccer is outrageously high. “According to Pew Research Center, hockey parents earn twice as much as the average U.S. family.” At the Mullett Ice Center in Hartland WI, ice time is valuable. It costs $287 per hour. This is $4.73 per a minute. The cost for hockey would be $1,800 per player per season. When you have more or less kids on a team, the price fluctuates up or down. The cost of brand new gear is about $2,000 for one player. Not every season will the players need everything new, but they many need one item. Gear may be cheaper online. Another cost is tournaments. This would mean the cost for the team to get into the tournament, hotel, gas, food, and any extras.
Soccer includes cleats, shin pads, a soccer ball, jersey, tournaments, hotel, food, and gas. Soccer costs less than hockey.
Stereotypically, hockey moms are more into their players and want to watch the games more so then soccer moms, because the price. When moms are paying $6,000 for one season per player they will want to watch the games. Jacob Leibenluft also finds out; “Hockey moms are also more intense then the soccer moms, such as cheering on their players.” Soccer moms are into their players, but hockey moms are more intense. Also, hockey moms gossip less then soccer moms, due to the fact that they have more money than the average family, they would rather brag about what they have and how much they spent on the item.
Hockey moms are more intense then soccer moms. The amount of money that parents spend on hockey is higher than the soccer player.
