Voting

We are coming up on an election year with the presidential primaries in February, the remainder of the primaries in May, and the presidential election in November. I just learned that only about fifty percent of eligible voters in the United States actually vote in presidential elections. That means a little over a fourth of the country can elect a president. Growing up in an opinionated family that has political discussions at the dinner table, this was surprising to me. So much for majority rule. I don't understand why no one cares. This is our country. We'll stand up every morning like robots and say the pledge of allegiance, but we won't vote.
