Summary:

When catastrophe strikes Earth in approximately 632,000 BCE, the original human-like civilization known as the Halcyons is in ruins. Their deep harmonic connection with the rest of nature has been lost, and the entire species is ultimately declared extinct. 

Zadoc, a young boy born in the tribe of Nilvak, witnesses the event with a strange new emotion never before felt by nature. As he nears his fate along with the rest of his people, he suddenly finds himself brought into someplace new, far into the future. Humans roam the planet, and the connection between nature has failed to recover. Zadoc holds the key to cure the modern world, but the process is too risky for him to endure alone.
