The wind blew an icy chill down my spine as I stepped up to the starting block. My suit was so tight it felt like it was one with my body. My hands shook with nervousness as I stepped onto the starting block, staring my enemy in the face. The pool glistened in the sunlight, inviting me in. inviting me to challenge myself, to push myself to the extreme. My enemy was taunting me, seeing if I could overcome the doubt and anxiety that clouded my mind. The doubt of achieving my goal, of winning the race and beating my best time was the dark looming cloud that blocked my achievement of this tremendous goal. I shook off the anxiety; let it all slip right out of my mind. Nothing was going to stop me from achieving my goal, not even myself. I felt a wave of confidence overwhelm me and engulf me in it’s current. This is my race, I will succeed.
