We arrive at the beach in the morning, the sun climbing steadily in the sky. I glance around at the already crowded beach. The sand, like flour squishes in my toes, powdery and fine. The wind blows across the water, sending the palm trees that are scattered around the edge of the beach swaying. My family and I help each other grab our stuff out of the car. We run across the hot sand juggling our towels and flip flops, eager for the best spot.
We spend the whole morning jumping in the waves, and spraying each other with sand. At lunch we find a busy beach side grill, starved we quickly wolf down our sandwiches. Heading out again we sit on the warm fluffy sand soaking up the sun, enjoying every minute of this day.
We are disappointed when we have to leave, trudging to the car. But even though we are disappointed to leave we know we are not leaving everything behind. My family seemed to grow even closer on that one trip to the ocean. And that alone is enough.
