When I graduated from 5th grade I received an award called The Great American Award. I had to know, write and recite by heart The Pledge of Allegiance, The Star Spangled Banner, The Preamble to the Constitution, The 50 States and there Capital in alphabetical order, The names of our Presidents in the order they served, and the Gettysburg Address. I felt that learning these things would help me understand how important being a true American would be.

History is one of my favorite subjects because I get to learn all that I can about the past and how the United States came to be. I feel it is very important that I learn how so many people before me sacrificed so much so I can live in this feel country I live in.
