My resolution for the New Year is to work on my procrastination. I cannot procrastinate as much because it is affecting school. Most students procrastinate on their school work, and find it difficult to stop. I want to stop for this new year. Every day when I get home, I usually start using my phone and roam through social media, checking out videos on Snapchat or finding out what my friends are doing on Instagram. Sometimes I get distracted with my Xbox and decide to play with my friends, or watch Netflix. I want to avoid doing this next year, so it is going to be my New Year’s resolution.

I have made five steps in order to achieve this goal. First of all, I should put my phone on “do not disturb” right when I get home. Doing this will prevent my phone from receiving notifications, and then I will not have to check my phone and get distracted. I should also leave my TV remote in the living room. This will avoid me from turning on my TV because I would not walk out of my room. Thirdly, I will also leave my Xbox controller in the living room, so then I do not turn it on myself to play. I usually lose track of time with homework, so this step will avoid me of doing that. Before I go out with friends, I should finish the homework I have that day. This will keep me from staying up at night just doing homework. The last step I should do is to set a timer. If I set a timer for about three hours, it will push me into being completely focused on my work. No Xbox, no phone, and no TV. This does not mean I will rush through my assignments, I will just be focused on the homework. And who knows, it might raise my grades up.

With all these steps, my New Year’s resolution will improve my education and sleep. I will get better grades because I will finish my homework from now on since I will not procrastinate. I will also use extra time to study since procrastination uses up all my time. So this resolution will also improve my time management. For instance, I would have more sleep since I would stay up late doing homework or I have more time for myself to study after homework.
