To me, a hero is someone who reaches out their hand to help you up when the rest of the world has kicked you down. A hero is someone who always puts others in front of themselves. My hero is Sue. She was very brave and courageous, and no matter the difficulties life brought her way, she stayed strong.

Throughout Sue's entire life, she was determined to make an impact on students' lives. For many years, she worked as a speech therapy instructor in the elementary school. All of the kids enjoyed her and many parents appreciated the work she did for their kids.

Sue also started a program in Dell Rapids called 'Christmas for our Kids,' which is an organization that uses donated toys and money to issue Christmas gifts to area children whose families can't afford them.

Sue was diagnosed with brain cancer and lived a brief time after, but her smile and memories will last a lifetime in Dell Rapids. My hero will never be forgotten.
