"Savannah Outen" is a familiar name to anyone who has listened to Radio Disney. She is one of the many teens who has found fame through YouTube. And she has definitely made her mark:

In the past few years, Savannah has released almost a dozen singles, contributed to three soundtracks and is working on an album.

I was recently given the opportunity to interview Savannah for Teen Ink.

* * *

RH- Tell us a little about yourself.

SO- My name is Savannah Outen & singing is my life.

RH- How did you first become interested in music?

SO- I grew up listening to music at a very young age. I always went to concerts and just loved watching people perform. TRL was my favorite because I loved watching music videos. I knew that this was what I wanted to do ever since I was a little girl.

RH- How would you describe your sound?

SO- My sound is pop/rock. I hope to think that it makes you feel good. And can inspire others to never give up.

RH- What was the inspiration behind your first hit, "Goodbyes?"

SO- I wrote that song during middle school graduation. My best friend at the time was moving to a different high school and it was tough saying goodbye.

RH- You have opened for several popular artists and bands; who was your favorite to open for?

SO- I'd have to say opening up for Jordin Sparks was pretty awesome. She's super talented & a really sweet girl.

RH- What has been your favorite song to write or record?

SO- My favorite song to record so far has been a song that has never been released. I am waiting until the day I can share it with the world. It's something I'm very, very proud of.

RH- How has your life changed since you posted your first cover on YouTube?

SO- It's definitely changed my life in the sense that I'm much more busy. I am constantly traveling. But I am still the same person. I just have gotten to have many more opportunities that I am so grateful for. YouTube has been an amazing way to reach out to people all over the world. I have fansites from Norway, Brazil, Australia, Switzerland.. It's been an amazing journey so far.

RH- If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be?

SO- I would love to collab with Steven Tyler. He has got so much swag and his voice kills me. He's so awesome. I'd also love to collab with John Mayer, Bruno Mars or my idol, Celine Dion.

RH- Can fans expect an album anytime soon?

SO- Absolutely. I cannot wait to release an album.

RH- Who do you count as your inspirations?

SO- Celine Dion is my number one inspiration. Not only is she an incredible singer, but she seems so genuine and down to earth. She makes great choices and you never hear anything bad about her in the tabloids.

John Mayer's lyrics are amazing, so he inspires me a lot.

RH- What advice do you have for aspiring musicians?

SO- My number one thing is to Never Ever Give Up. This business is very tough, but if you go into it believing in yourself, feeling confident, and loving it so much, it can happen. There will be lots of no's but you have to keep fighting.

Savannah Outen is a really talented young woman. The first song I heard her sing was House of Cards, It was in one of Elle Fowler’s videos and I instantly fell in love with it! I hope to hear more of her music soon.
