Do you think schools should start at later times? Well, schools should at later times because if you do not get enough sleep, it affects your health, hurts your academics, and also makes you tired/lazy. This essay will tell you why schools should start at later time.

For one thing, sleep deprivation has a strong impact on your health. If you do not get enough sleep, obesity or diabetes can take place. According to Siobhan Banks, from The Sydney Morning Herald, ‘’When we are exhausted, we want to eat doughnuts, not salads’’. The implication is, schools need to start at a later time, so students can get enough sleep. Also, you can become more depressed, and extremely emotional.

In Addition, sleep deprivation affects your academics. If you go to school with not enough sleep, you will most likely not succeed. You would more likely go to sleep in the middle of class, and your mind would not fully function. According to Education Week, ‘’some high schools that had later times, their graduation and attention rate rose’’. This implies that more sleep can strengthen the mind.

Lastly, sleep deprivation makes you tired/lazy. When you do not get enough sleep, you will make mistakes. Some mistakes could cost you your life. According to Valerie Strauss, from The Washington Post, ‘’For teens there’s more: an increased risk of suicidal thought, suicidal attempts, and self-harm’’. This implies school timings should start at later times.

In Conclusion, many people think if schools start at later times, it will affect students learning time. Results say, students learn more with a fine sleep. So schools should open at later times than now. If they do, when people wake up for school they will not be as tired as now. This is because less sleep affects your health, your academics, and can make you tired/lazy. If you agree with me, please help others also now.
