In the past I've been a good judge of character, so people's actions have never come as a shock. Except for the one time that I was fooled into believing something that would never come true. The person who conned me was my father.

As I was growing up I thought he would always be there for me. I had visions of us playing catch, of us at a ball game, of him at my graduation. Visions which will never come true because he left me at a young age. How could he just leave me? I thought to myself, was it me? Is this all my fault? I felt confused and scared, and although those feelings left me a long time ago, the sensation of being cheated out of a part of my childhood remains.
