It is a Nativity scene beside a Menorah.
A Chinese restaurant nextto a taco stand.
It is tattered housing projects and penthouseapartments.

America is the Wright Brothers and Alan Shepard.
MartinLuther King, Jr. and George Washington.
Protesters marching in front of theWhite House gates.
Red, white and blue waving from carantennas.

America is six-year-olds saying the Pledge ofAllegiance.
G.I. Joes and Janes running to defend a country theylove.
Disagreement and coming together.
It is Lady Liberty raising hertorch high.

America is home.
