Whoosh!
Whoosh!
The wind whips the tree tops
in frantic directions.
Crash!
Crash!
Tree branches plummet to the ground as the wind snatches them from their place on the tree.
Squawk!
Squawk!
Crows call out seeking shelter from the great gales of wind.
Whoo!
Whoo!
Owls scream in terror of the noises outside their safe and warm homes.
Tick!
Tick!
A tree taps upon the window of a child's bedroom as he sleeps.
Drip!
Drip!
Water leaks in through a crack in the ceiling onto a unsuspecting sleeper.

I hope you enjoy reading my poem as much as I did writing it. I was inspired to write this for my mom, who is very scared of lightening storms.
