Where I'm From

I am from 6-strings on my Ovation.
I am from the four affectionate teammates we call a family.
I am from the infinite dandelions budding by the back porch
The tall grass between my house and the park
Where I fell off of my bike.

I am from Greek weddings, dancing and Zorbas
From Gyros and salad and spinach pie
From Nick and Peter and Steve and Leo
I’m from the cheese head county, where I saw my first game
From the golf course surrounding my residence
Where I hope to have my first real job as a cart girl
I am from “What does that have to do with the price of rice in China?”
And “When I say warm I mean freezing” as my best friends exaggerate.

I’m from dinner at thea holly’s, and ball tag and ping pong
From the annual Halloween parties, with kids all under the age of 12
From angel hair pasta, to beef stroganoff
Sega and Nintendo 64 in the hidden back room
I am from the best guy friend a girl could ever ask for.

I am from those moments.
Those like a song which I have chosen to remember and sing every day
Repeating the lyrics makes it stronger in mind
I’m from the world of music.
