Those younger days

By
Weekends my father also got up early and got his cup of Joe, His coaching uniform nice and pressed, no rest for the weary I’m sure ran through his mind every time his Saturday was taken up with kids who didn’t play all that well, he never complained once in all the times I can remember.

He awakened me in what I thought was the early hours of the day, my jersey and pants already laid out and ready to be put on, with the words resonating in my ear just go out and have fun, but if you win, then that’s a bonus.

Anxiously waiting for the moment until I saw the rest of the football team, I looked and saw a man who taught me so much and got me ready to do anything I wanted, how could I have imagined how much his time spent with me would shape how I am as a person.
