She’s the one everyone envies. She’s got it all figured out. Knows where she’s going, what she’s doing, who she’ll be. Always has known. Beautiful, talented, lively—guys want to be her boyfriend; girls want to be her best friend.
She knows better. Knows better than to let something small and trivial get in the way of what she wants; her goals. She won’t be famous someday, or be remembered in history, but she will be something. Doesn’t know what exactly, but whatever it is; she wants to do it well. She will be the girl who never failed to smile at the kid who didn’t have any friends, the girl who answered a question in class when no body else spoke up, the girl who offered her help to anyone who needed it.
Senior year, second semester, last day. Graduation party tomorrow, grandparents coming to town the next day. What’s to happen next? Twelve years of repetition. Twelve years of routine. The next twelve years will be quite different for her.
