When it comes to looking professional. I’m sure the first thing that comes to your

mind is the three piece suit or nice dress. With perfectly done hair. But, when did that come about?
at one point in time, we’ve subconsciously imbedded into our brains what is seen as
professional or not. Now, what if I told you that trend is soon to be dead?

One out of every ten millennials have a tattoo. And facial piercings such as the septum and gauged
ears are becoming nothing close to a shock. It’s only a waiting game at this point. Where
society looks at body modifications as unprofessional. Such as paramedics.
The emergency response scene in general has took a step forward when it comes to
discrimination against body modifications.

Firemen, police, and paramedics have been seen multiple times with body mods. Especially
tattoos. When most of the older generation thinks of tattoos or facial piercings. They think of gangs,
outcasts, and much more. But at this rate, it’ll soon be seen as the norm. And going to a doctor visit with the doctor ending up having a tattoo sleeve won’t be so weird anymore. Nor seen as unprofessional.

There’s still a lot of work to be done though, many people still believe that people with tattoos
and/or piercings are bad people. And shouldn’t be working in well paid jobs.

In order to counter this, it’s going to have to take a generation or two to step their game up.
More and more younger people are getting ink, and that shouldn’t affect what kind of job they get.
It should be how good of a worker they are. The discrimination that these young, and sometimes
old, people receive in the workplace is unfair. But it’s only a matter of time now.
